Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) clearly disagrees with one of President Donald Trump’s latest responses to the coronavirus outbreak.

Tlaib retweeted a post by David Hogg, who is known as one of the survivors of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Flo., in 2018.

“Don’t let this administration address COVID-19 like our national gun violence epidemic,” he tweeted, adding, “F*** a National day of prayer, we need immediate comprehensive action.”

Don’t let this administration address COVID-19 like our national gun violence epidemic. Fuck a National day of prayer, we need immediate comprehensive action.

After she retweeted the message, Tlaib proceeded to tweet a response of her own.

“Let me be clear as someone who has been praying through this all [and] as someone who attended the National Prayer Breakfast. My retweet was not to be an attack on prayer,” she said, adding, “It was to bring attention to the need for meaningful action to combat this public health crisis.”

Tlaib has been vocal about her disapproval of Trump in the past, especially during the impeachment proceedings.

During a NAACP convention in Detroit in July of 2019, she spoke of her reaction to the impeachment proceedings, as IJR previously reported.

“I’m not going nowhere — not until I impeach this president,” she said.

As for the coronavirus, the Trump administration has put together a stimulus package in includes sending money to Americans to help mitigate the economic effects of the coronavirus, as IJR previously reported.
