Former Vice President Joe Biden has made it clear that he believes he can do a better job than the current administration in combatting the coronavirus.

CNN published an op-ed by Biden where he lays out his plan to tackle the pandemic that continues to affect countries across the globe.

The op-ed begins with Biden arguing that the nation is better off with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) leadership as she just helped pass a bill to provide resources to fight the virus.

The bill titled the Families First Coronavirus Response Act provides paid sick leave, additional funds for food assistance programs and access to free testing, as IJR previously reported.

In a tweet, Biden on the Senate to pass the bill.

I'm incredibly grateful for @SpeakerPelosi's leadership every day — but especially in times of crisis. @senatemajldr McConnell should bring back the Senate immediately and pass this important bill to provide relief for American families. https://t.co/eylYXfvFNm

The 2020 presidential hopeful proceeded to criticize the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus.

Biden writes, “And just yesterday, Trump flatly refused to take responsibility for the failure of testing to date. When asked a legitimate public health question, he said, ‘Yeah, no, I don’t take responsibility at all.'” He continues, “It is the job of the President to take responsibility – and his response is unacceptable.”

The op-ed transitions to Biden laying out the steps that need to be taken. The first listed is making sure everyone has access to testing, especially vulnerable populations.

The second is preparing hospitals and providing them with resources needed to care for the number of Americans coming in for treatment.

Lastly, Biden calls for speeding up the process of creating a vaccine and developing treatments.

He pivots to how the coronavirus is affecting the economy and what can be done to solve the issue.

Biden writes, “We must do whatever it takes and spend whatever it takes to deliver relief for our families and ensure the stability of our economy.”

He adds, “This crisis will hit everyone, but it will hit folks who live paycheck-to-paycheck the hardest, including working people and seniors.”

The former vice president concludes the op-ed with a promise to the American people if he is elected.

“But I can promise you that when I’m President, we will prepare better, respond better, and recover better.”

Sanders currently trails Biden on the delegate count. The two are slated to debate Sunday night.
