Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton chose not to plead the fifth when asked about first lady Melania Trump’s cyberbullying initiative.

During an interview with the host of “Watch What Happens Live” Andy Cohen, he asked Clinton, “What do you honestly think of first lady Melania Trump’s cyberbullying initiative?”

She replied, “I think she should look closer to home.” The response received laughter and applause from the audience.

Watch the exchange below:

The initiative Clinton is referring to is called “Be Best.”

According to the website, “The mission of BE BEST is to focus on some of the major issues facing children today, with the goal of encouraging children to BE BEST in their individual paths, while also teaching them the importance of social, emotional, and physical health.”

It continues, “BE BEST will concentrate on three main pillars: well-being, online safety, and opioid abuse.” The pillar of online safety is designed to focus on how to speak with kind words and how to also be respectful and compassionate.

Prior to the launch of the program, President Donald Trump reportedly wanted his wife to focus on another topic acknowledging that his tendency to attack his critics using social media may come under scrutiny. The first lady’s efforts to tackle the issue have been criticized in the past, as IJR previously reported.

The first lady is no stranger to critics including both those from the media and some Americans. She has been open in the past and has addressed how she has handled them. She says she has based her past decisions on doing what she thinks is right for the country and its people and stayed true to herself, as IJR previously reported.

Despite receiving negative feedback, Melania Trump continues to work on the initiative and spoke at the 2020 U.S. Department of Justice National Opioid Summit on Friday.
