The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is losing voters at an increased rate with more than 39,000 switching registration from Democrat to Republican in 2022 alone.

Some disgruntled voters cited Democrats’ alleged abandonment of its voters during the pandemic, according to a Fox News report.

Ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, in the western region of Pennsylvania alone, about 8,400 Democrats have changed their party affiliation to turn Republican.

One recent defector is Pennsylvania mother Beth Ann Rosica who joined “Fox & Friends First” to discuss possible reasons for the huge change among voters.

Rosica said she thinks part of it is that parents are “fed up and disgusted with what’s happened here over the last two and a half years,” according to Fox News.

“I think the economy is huge, and I also think a lot of the school issues for parents across the state of Pennsylvania, it’s just been horrific watching what’s happened to our kids academically, socially, emotionally,” Rosica told co-host Carley Shimkus. “All of these failed policies have just really resulted in academic losses.”

The almost 40,000 party affiliation changes from Democrat to Republican in 2022 are in stark contrast to the roughly 12,000 who have switched the other way, from Republican to Democrat.

Another Democrat turned Republican who spoke to Fox News was Endrias Micael, who hails from an immigrant family and claims that Democrats have been failing voters for some time.

“I’m a part of a community called the National Council of Eritrean Americans, and what we committed to is mobilizing swing votes and people who consider themselves the fault of Democrats, people who the Democratic Party have not engaged with in quite some time or just have offered them failed policy after failed policy,” Micael said according to Fox News.

For Rosica, however, the problem with Democrats was based partially in what she saw them not doing for others: “As a former Democrat for 34 years prior to the pandemic, I too thought that the Democratic Party was really focused on the people that they pretend to support.”

The recently converted Republican said her decision was born partially out of her vocation which caused her to work with underprivileged communities to assist them in finding resources. Rosica said her job forced her to see how uncared for many of those underprivileged groups are by the Democratic Party.

“What I saw through the pandemic was that the Democratic Party basically abandoned all of those people,” Rosica said. “And so that was why I left the party, or as I like to say, the party really left me, and I think that a lot more people are really starting to see that.”
