The State Department reported that the death count of Americans in Israel had risen to 30 individuals as the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues.

“At this time, we can confirm the deaths of 30 U.S. citizens,” a spokesperson for the State Department said in a statement on Sunday. “We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and to the families of all those affected.”

Thirteen Americans were also reported to still be missing.

The rising death count came a day after the State Department revealed on Saturday that 29 Americans had been reported to have been murdered by Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist organization.

“The U.S. government is working around the clock to determine their whereabouts, and is working with the Israeli government on every aspect of the hostage crisis,” a spokesperson for the State Department said on Saturday.

More than 1,400 people were left dead after Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel on Oct. 7 in which thousands of rockets were fired and more than 250 people, who had been attending a music festival near the Gaza strip border, were killed.

The Israeli military says that 155 people have been taken as hostages by Hamas since the Oct. 7 attack, including children, babies and the elderly, according to The Guardian.
